Cook takes tally to 12 in 3 games.
Threave Rovers 10 - 0 Dumfries (Cook 8, 17, 72, 75, 78, 80mins, Donley 44mins, Warren 50, 85mins Og 60mins)
Threave again hit double figures in this game and have now scored thirty one goals without reply in their last four games. Cook again took the limelight but this time hit six which takes his personal tally to twelve in three games. He opened the scoring on eight minutes and added the second on seventeen minutes. Donley missed a glorious chance with only the keeper to beat however made amends on the stroke of half time. Warren added number four early in the second half before Kerr replaced Parker who took a nock to the side of his knee meaning that Gault had to go in goals for the last half hour. Beattie returned after his long suspension replacing Struthers just before an own goal from a Warren corner made it five even though Warren claims the ball was over (sorry Sam ref gave it as an own goal). With twenty minutes left Adams replaced Donley and a tired Dumfries side caved in. Cook claimed four more in the space of eight minutes and Warren completed the route on eighty five minutes.

Wigtown 0 - 5 Threave Rovers (Cook 10,15, 25, 60mins, Wilby 22mins (Green sent off 78mins))
Another clean sheet and five goals progressed Threave into the third round of the new SFA challenge cup. With his first goals bagged on Wednesday night Cook continued where he had left off by scoring four three in the first half to Wigtown's dismay. His first came on ten minutes when Donley's shot was well saved by the Wigtown keeper but the alert Cook slotted the rebound home. Similarly the second again was great following up with an easy tap in from the keepers save. Wilby then added number three on twenty five minutes from a corner and three minutes later Cook completed his hat-rick when Donley scuffed a shot which Cook tapped in at the back post. Wigtown battled hard in the second half but that man Cook completed the scoring on the hour mark to make the score five nil. With fifteen minutes to go Green was booked and minutes later was red carded for a second offence and Threave were down to ten men. Even with the man down Threave still created chances but with no joy.

Threave Rovers 5 - 0 Fleet Star (Cook 5, 15mins, Struthers 35mins, Fingland 60mins, Og 70mins)
Threave continued their scoring with a comfortable win over a Fleet Star side that tried hard without creating many clear cut chances. Cook finally claimed his first goals for Threave after some impressive performances. A cross from Warren on five minutes was met by the diving Cook to make it one nil and as they say once you get your first the second is sure to follow and ten minutes later another header this time from a Struthers cross was met by Cook's head for two nil. Struthers added a third before the break to make it three nil. Second half goals by Fingland his first of the season from a corner and an own goal by Fleet Star's caretaker manager's son Graeme Robertson completed the score for the night.

Saturday 9th February 2008
Threave Rovers 11 - 0 Wigtown ( Warren 2,15,25(pen), 55, 85mins, Green 4, 19, 65mins Struthers 10, 80mins Donley 72mins)
Threave bounced back from Wednesday's defeat in great style by putting eleven past a helpless Wigtown but more pleasing was the clean sheet. Warren opened the score on two minutes with a back post header and Green made it two within five minutes. Struthers then got on the score sheets on ten minutes when a rick-o-shay fell to his feet and he dispatched the gift. Warren added another two before the break, one from the penalty spot to complete his hat -trick and Green also added his second to put Threave six up at the interval. In the second half Threave could have sat on their comfortable lead but drove on and on fifty five minutes Warren collected his fourth and Threave's seventh with a good left foot finish from just inside the box. Green completed his hat-rick. Donley's hard work was also rewarded when he got number nine and Struthers made it double figures with number ten. Sam Warren completed a perfect day to make the score eleven nil with five minutes left.

Threave brought down to earth by Saints.
Threave Rovers 2 - 3 Saints ( Baty 70mins, Struthers 84mins.)
Threave were brought back down to earth with a bump as local rivals Saints ditched them out of the Tweedy cup. Threave gave some fringe players a run out but a lacklustre second half performance by the whole team allowed Saints to progress in this competition. Both teams were evenly matched in the first half with Cook and Adams both going close for Rovers and Irving and McClymont for Saints. Saints however took a one nil first half lead when Jim Fingland misjudged a header on the half way line and a long distance shot from McClymont squirmed through Parkers hands and into the net. Threave came out in the second half confident of changing the game but fell further behind when a free kick at the left hand corner flag sailed to the back post and was met by a saints foot. Things got worse five minutes later when another great ball into the box created a scramble and this time the shot come cross was miss hit by Wilson who's touch hit the post and in to his own net for a three nil score line. Threave with time running out replaced Green with Baty and Cook with Donley and started to create more chances. Baty pulled a goal back with twenty minutes left and with only five minutes left a shot hit the cross bar and Struthers headed home to create a grand stand finish. Threave piled on the pressure but Saints held out to go through.

Threave pass Uni test
Edinburgh Uni 2 - 3 Threave Rovers (Green 9mins, Warren 50mins (pen), Baty 70mins)
Threave travelled through heavy snow to the capital fully expecting this game to be postponed and with only thirteen fit players when Marc McGinley was unable to meet the bus due to the snow but to their surprise there was no snow in Edinburgh and this game was on. Threave with new signing Cook making his debut came out well after a five week lay off and took the lead on nine minutes when Gavin Green nipped the ball at the edge of the Edinburgh Uni box, rode a heavy challenge and lashed an unstoppable shot into the net to open his account for the season. Edinburgh came back at Threave but Threave stood firm and were finding space in the middle of the park due to the diamond formation that Uni play. Threave created several half chances but last minute challenges and easy saves by the keeper kept the score the same. However just before half time a ball into the box landed on the six yard line and bounced straight in. Things could of got worse for Threave when a mix up in the defence fell to ex Threave player Stuart Hogg who's shot was excellently saved by Parker. Threave came out after the break and again took the game to their East hosts. An effort by Baty was well saved by the keeper before a through ball was collected by Donley and a clumsy challenge by the defender landed him on the ground. The ref immediately pointed to the spot and Warren made no mistake to put Threave two on up. The lead however only lasted five minutes as a well worked move released the right midfielder who crossed. Wilby trying to clear could only turn the ball into his own net and the scores were tied again. Threave pushed again and on seventy minutes the ball broke to James Baty on the edge of the box and his shot was deflected over the keeper and into the net to give Threave the lead for the third time. Threave were determined to keep this lead however Edinburgh Uni were putting on the pressure. Adams replaced Baty and Rogerson replaced Donley as Uni piled on more and more pressure. Threave held out and progress to the next round of this SFA challenge cup at the expense of the hotly fancied East top team.
Parker, Wilby, Fingland, Paterson, Gault, Struthers, Green, Baty, Warren, Cook, Donley, Subs Adams, Rogerson.

Threave sign Cook from Dalbeattie Star.
Threave have won the race to sign Paul Cook from local rivals Dalbeattie Star. Saints were hoping that Cook would replace Scott Milligan who Star signed on Friday night but Cook signed for raining champions Threave and will go straight into the squad for Saturdays game. Saints however have strengthened their squad with the signing of Ben Irving and free transfer, McClymont both from Dalbeattie Star.
Saturday 29th December 2007
Stranraer Ath. 1 - 1 Threave Rovers (Donley 51mins, Rogerson missed pen 61mins, Beattie sent off 81mins)
Played at a wild and windy Stranraer Threave came away with only a share of the points. In the first half apart from the wild weather the only recognised points to mention were a penalty claim for Threave and a Donley goal which was chalked off for off side. In the second half the wind died slightly and Threave were quickly ahead when Donley found the net on fifty one minutes. Ten minutes later Warren was brought down in the box however Rogerson stepped up and missed from the spot. This miss turned out to be costly as Stranraer equalised on seventy eight minutes. Things got worse for Threave when Beattie was upended in the middle of the park and when he got up spat the dirt from his mouth only for the referee to send him off for spitting on an opponent. Threave could have one it when again the lively Donley went past the keeper and was upended when about to take his shot. However once again the ref turned away and awarded a bye kick.

Threave Rovers 3 - 2 Annan Athletic (Struthers 25, 32mins, Beattie 87min (pen)
Threave returned to action after two weeks of postponements against East champions Annan Athletic in the South's top cup competition. The south champions were soon taking the game to Annan and could of gone ahead but the keeper made a good safe from Struthers. On twenty five minutes Struthers blocked a defensive clearance and ran on to slot the ball past the Annan keeper to make the score one nil. The same player made it two seven minutes later when a great through ball from Baty found the run of Struthers who again fired home. Rogerson then had a chance but delayed his shot and the chance was lost. With half time only a minute away Annan were thrown a life line when from a corner Johnstone rose to head the ball goal wards, The shot was blocked but fell again to his feet and this time he stroke the ball into the net to make the score two, one. After the break Annan got themselves level when again Threave's failure to clear the ball allowed Bell a shot who from the edge of the box stroke the ball home. Struthers again started to run at the Annan defence and was causing them problems and started again to create chances. Threave management then surprisingly replaced Struthers with McGinley on sixty three minutes which raised quite a few eyebrows with all in the ground. On seventy minutes Rogerson was injured and was replaced by Adams who with less than ten minutes to go was brought down in the box and Threave were awarded a penalty which irritated Annan captain Jardine who said a little too much to the referee who quickly showed the red card. Jardine must of said something else as the referee showed him a second red. Beattie made sure from the spot to put Threave into the lead again. Annan pushed hard to equalise however with seconds left found themselves down to nine men when their big defender raised his hands and was shown his second yellow and subsequent red.
Parker, Wilby, Fingland, Patterson, Kerr, Baty, Beattie, Green, Struthers, Rogerson. Subs McGinley, Adams. Subs not used Wilson, Stenton, Donley.

Threave Rovers 0 - 5 Raith Rovers
Threave's Scottish cup run came to an end against promotion chasing Iron Bru Scottish Division 2 side Raith Rovers. Threave in the new format third round of the Scottish cup for the first time did well against their league opponents for an hour but lost four goals in the last half hour to give Raith a convincing win. The first half started evenly with both teams having a share of possession with Raith however creating the better chances. On twenty nine minutes a whipped cross from Raith's left side eluded everyone apart from Davidson who forced the ball in at the far post. Ten minutes before half time a great through ball by Donley found the run of Baty but his shot agonisingly crept past the post. With a strong wind behind them Raith started to hem Threave in and only some fine saves by Parker and some solid defending kept the score to only one. After the break the wind died slightly however Raith continued to press Threave back and could have went two up within a minute but Parker produced a great save. Just as Threave were starting to get into the game Raith broke away and Carcary fired in number two on sixty two minutes . Threave replaced the ever willing Donley with McGinley and then Kerr with Gault and placed Warren back to right back but this did not stop the Raith threat and on seventy two minutes Threave failed to properly clear a corner and Carcary struck a curling shot past Parker from the edge of the box to put the game well and truly out of Threave's reach. Five minutes later it was four when a surging run drew the Threave defenders to Carcary, who slipped the ball to Hislop who struck home. With ten minutes left Threave made their third sub Struthers for Stenton but with the game nearly over Hislop added his second and Raith's fifth to put Threave truly to the sword.

Threave Rovers 0 - 1 Dalbeattie Star
Threave made several defensive changes but it was the strikers who were more noticeable by failing to score for the first time this season. The game was one of very few clear cut chances. Ex Threave players Neilson and Irving were the pick of a Dalbeattie side who took their only clear cut chance when Jack Dingwall tapped home a cross from the right hand side on 60mins. Threave's best chance fell to their 70min sub James Baty who replaced Rogerson in a strange substitution when one nil down. His chance in the last minute was well saved by another ex Threave player Gordon Hair.

Saints 2 - 3 (AET) Threave Rovers (Wilby 17mins, Donley 54mins, Baty 119mins)
Threave progressed to the third round of this years top south cup competition, the Challenge cup by beating Saints in the last minute of extra time. Threave again made several changes for a cup game with Wilby coming in for Scottish cup hero Stenton, Wilson and Beattie replacing Green and Gault and Struthers replacing Baty. The game was played in the usual Kirkcudbright wind and after an even ten minutes Andrew Donley thought he had put Threave ahead when a well worked move released Struthers down the right who crossed the ball into Donley who fired the ball goal wards. The ball seemed to crash against the stanchion in the goal and bounced back out but as Donley celebrated the ball was kicked out and the referee and his assistant gave a corner. From the resulting corner the ball was cleared to the edge of the box and Struthers was upended. Scott Wilby took the free kick and curled it into the top right corner to put Threave one up. The rest of the first half was played mainly in the middle of the park with both teams having the odd half chance. The second half started with Threave pressing to increase their lead and after some pressure they scored the second when Rogerson passed to Baty in the box who's shot was parried by the Saints keeper but it fell to the feet of Donley who drove the ball into the net. Saints tried to get back into the game and as started to find some room in the middle of the park as the game stretched. On the hour mark Saints got back into the game as they broke onto the Threave defence and Hugh Cameron scored. Five minutes later Saints were level when this time a well worked move was finished off by Raymond Gordon for Saints. This spurred Threave into some changes with Beattie replaced by Baty and Wilson being replaced by Gault but these changes did not add to the two two score line. The game looked as though it was going to penalties as no team created much in extra time until in the last minute the ball fell to James Baty who struck a great shot towards the Saints goal. Again the ball seemed to strike the inner stanchion and out but this time the officials pointed to the centre circle.

Saturday 3rd November 2007
Fleet Star 1 - 3 Threave Rovers (Donley 19mins, McGinley 60mins, Paterson 82mins.)
Threave were always going to be up against a hard Fleet Star team who this year have improved well and lately have been a hard team to beat. The game started well with both teams attacking without real chances. The game sprang to life when slightly against the run of play Fleet Star broke down the right and found striker Petrie twenty yards out who controlled the ball and struck a high shot which curled into the top right hand corner of Parkers goal to give them the lead. This only lasted two minutes as Threave won a corner and from that Donley rose to head the ball home brushing McGinley on the way in but not enough for the young striker to claim the goal. Threave then put on some pressure but resilient defending and some hard running kept the game level. Threave replaced Stenton, who took a knock in the first half with Wilby and Green with Beattie at half time to try and freshen things up. The game was very level with Threave having the better chances but not really having any flowing football. On the hour mark Warren was released down the left and his cross was missed by both Donley and the Star defenders and fell to McGinley on the six yard line who had an open goal to put Threave ahead. With fifteen minutes left Struthers came on for Baty however Fleet battled well but in the last ten minutes again from a corner the ball was bundled towards goal by Fingland, Donley and McGinley and as the referee started to blow his whistle Paterson lashed the ball into the net to make sure.
Parker, Stenton, Fingland, Paterson, Kerr, Baty, Green, Gault, Warren, Donley, McGinley. Subs Wilby, Beattie, Struthers. Subs not used Rogerson, Wilson.

Rovers Stun Division 3 Stenny
Threave Rovers 1 - 0 Stenhousemuir (Stenton 19mins)
Threave Rovers claimed another league scalp in the Scottish Cup to progress to this years third round. Threave started this second round Scottish Cup tie knowing that they would have to be at their best to progress against Division three Stenhousemuir. The first ten minutes were even with both teams sizing each other out, however the first chance of the game fell to Donley of Threave when hesitation in the Stenny defence let the striker in but from a tight angle he shot wide. On nineteen minutes a free kick was awarded to Threave on the half way line, James Fingland touched the ball to right back Keith Stenton catching the Stenny team out who sat off and Stenton had time to take a touch and fire a shot (Cross) at goal. The ball soured into the near top corner catching the keeper out and sending the 300 plus Threave fans ecstatic. Stenny came back at Rovers but Fingland and Patterson at the heart of the Threave defence were marshalling the Stenhousemuir attackers well with Stenton and Kerr also snuffing out any danger. Gault and Green were also being kept busy in the middle of the park by ex Celtic player Brian McLaughlin and other midfielders. Warren and Struthers were battling well and Donley and Rogerson trying to hold the ball up. On the half hour mark Threave had a glorious chance to make it two nil when Rogerson and Struthers found themselves two on one at the edge of the Stenhousemuir box but Rogerson held onto the ball and the chance was gone. Stenhousemuir then had a chance from a corner but Parker in goal saved well. After the break Stenny lifted their game but some great Goalkeeping and resolute defending along with a little luck kept the score at one nil. . Threave also had several half chances which the keeper was more than a match for. Towards the end Threave brought on Baty and McGinley for the tiring Struthers and Donley. In the dying minutes Stenhousemuir piled on the pressure and McGinley showed his inexperience when he tried to drive at the defender instead of driving into the corner to waste some time which gave Stenny a final chance, however Threave held on for the cup upset which means that Stenton becomes only the second Threave player to score the winner in a Scottish cup tie and on his cup debut also.
Parker, Stenton, Fingland, Patterson, Kerr, Struthers, Gault, Green, Warren, Donley, Rogerson. Subs Baty, McGinley. Subs not used McColm, Wilson, Beattie.
Saturday 20th October 2007
Threave's preparations for next weeks Scottish cup second round tie took a major blow when their last game before the tie was cancelled due to Nithsdale not being able to field a team.Threave will progress in the cup but this does not help the preparations for next week.
Tuesday 16th October 2007
Threave Rovers 4 - 3 Stranraer FC (Adams 4mins, Baty 19mins, Beattie 29mins (pen), Warren 41mins.)
Threave hold on, to win cup tie. Threave made several changes in this cup game with James Fingland making his first start of the season and Mark Adams only his second start of the campaign. McGinley, Beattie and Wilson also came in for their first starts for several weeks. Threave started well and after just two minutes might have had a penalty when McGinley was blatantly brought down by the Stranraer defender but even though the marks on the pitch clearly showed the challenge was inside the box the referee decide to give a free kick just outside the box. Two minutes later Threave were ahead when a pin point front post free kick from Gault found the run of Adams who rose unmarked to head the ball into the net to give Threave the perfect start. Threave were putting pressure on the Stranraer keeper and were benefitting from his poor kicking and decision making. On nineteen minutes a great diagonal through ball by Warren found the run Baty who headed the ball past the keeper who advanced out of his area. Threave found themselves further ahead just before the half hour mark when Adams was tripped by Knox in the Stranraer box and Beattie dispatched the resulting penalty. Stranraer then got back into the game when from a corner Parker dropped the ball and the striker lashed the ball into the net. Stranraer then found themselves down to ten men on forty minutes when a through ball found McGinley who's shot hit the hand of the advancing keeper who subsequently saw red. Threave went four, one up on forty one minutes when Warren bundled the ball into the net after good work by Baty and McGinley on the right hand side. Stranraer were not going to lie down and on the stroke of half time pulled a goal back when a shot from the edge of the box bounced past the unsighted Parker and into the Threave net. After the break Stranraer put pressure on the Threave defence and within ten minutes pulled a goal back. Threave then had a lot of possession without the final ball but Stranraer were also causing problems to the Threave defence. Threave replaced Wilson with Kerr and Stenton with Struthers. Threave should have put the game beyond Stranraer but chances by McGinley, Struthers and Adams all were wasted. In the end Threave were happy to hear the final whistle and progress into the second round.
Parker, Stenton, Fingland, Patterson, Gault, Baty, Beattie, Wilson, Warren, Adams, McGinley. Subs Kerr, Struthers. Subs not used Donley, Green.

Threave Rovers 7 - 0 Mid Annandale (Rogerson 5, 27, 63mins(pen), Donley 35, 82mins, Kerr 55mins, Warren 79mins)
Threave extend their lead at the top of the South league with a seven heaven performance. The game started with Mids players harassing and shutting the ball down quickly, which meant that the Threave's passing also had to be sharp on the slick surface. On five minutes Struthers run down the right wing and his deflected cross looped over the central defender and fell to the unmarked Rogerson six yards out who side footed the ball into the net. Threave pressed for a second but the Mids defence were holding firm. Threave piled on even more pressure and Kerr went close after the fourth corner in a row for Threave. Just before the half hour mark a surging run by James (Sid) Baty released Donley who passed to Rogerson on the edge of the box and his firm right foot shot beat the keeper at his near post to make it two nil. Seven minutes later it was Donley's turn to drill a low shot past the keeper to make it a more comfortable three nil score line. After the break Kerr got his goal and Threave's fourth when from a corner he stuck out a leg in the crowded box to drill the ball into the net. On sixty three minutes Struthers was upended just inside the box even though he fell outside and Rogerson made no mistake from the spot to claim his hat trick. This gave the management the perfect chance to give James Fingland some competitive action and also Ross Beattie some action after his long suspension. Wilby and Green were the men to give way. Warren then got in on the scoring act when he found his first shot saved by the keeper but the rebound fell to his feet and he had the easy task of side footing the rebound into a near empty net to make it six. Rogerson was then replaced by McGinley for the final ten minutes. The final and best goal of the game came when Struthers tricked the defender wide on the right and his front post cross was excellently headed home by Donley to complete the score.
Parker, Stenton, Wilby, Patterson, Kerr, Struthers, Green, Baty, Warren, Donley, Rogerson. Subs Fingland, Beattie, McGinley. Subs not used Adams, Wilson.

Saturday 6th October 2007
It was top versus bottom on Saturday as Threave travelled to play Wigtown in the only league game. The points gap was very visible in the first five minutes when some neat football let Struthers in but from six yards out he found that the ball would not come down quick enough and after a touch the defender got back to block the shot. Threave went ahead on three minutes when a corner was swung in by Gault and deflected onto the head of Kerr and bulleted into the net. Baty was then hurt in a challenge and had to be replaced by Wilson. With only five minutes on the clock Struthers again had a great chance but screwed his shot wide from again six yards out. Wigtown came slightly into the game but Threave were still creating chance after chance. Donley, Warren, Kerr and Rogerson all had other chances to extend the lead. Warren finally made it two nil with a fine shot from the edge of the box on twenty minutes and Donley thought he had made it three when Warren got to the bye line and cut the ball back to slot home, but the ref somehow decided to chop the goal off for offside even though the ball was clearly cut back. Threave finally made the score line more realistic when again Warren found the back of the net. In the second half chances were again going begging before Struthers cut in onto his left foot and struck the ball into the net to make it four nil. James Fingland made his first appearance of the season on seventy minutes for Stenton and Adams replaced Rogerson ten minutes later. With the game nearer its end Wilby drove forward from the back cut inside and unleashed a low shot into the bottom right hand corner for his first goal of the season and Threave's Fifth of the game.

Nithsdale 0 - 1 Threave Rovers (Warren 35mins) (Green sent off 75mins)
Threave maintained their recent winning streak with a hard fought win against Nithsdale. For only their third league game of the season and second in a row Threave kept a clean sheet which in the end was required after they could not extend the one goal lead from the first half. The game started evenly with Struthers hitting the bar for Threave in the opening five minutes and Parker having to be at his best at the other end to keep the Nithsdale strikers at bay. Green after being booked for his first tackle of the game was then clipped in the box but the ref waved the play on. The break through came midway through the first half when a corner was not well cleared by the Nithsdale defence and it fell to Sam Warren who fired a low shot into the net. Threave could have extended their lead on the stroke of half time when Warren was well placed at the back post but his shot was blocked. After the break Threave looked more in control and Struthers in the middle of the park was finding room to run at the Nithsdale defence but again with no end product. Warren, Struthers and Rogerson went close with shots but the Nithsdale defence stood firm. Some wild tackles were going in from some of the Nithsdale players but on 75 minutes Green was shown a second yellow and subsequent red for a tackle that the ref had let other players away with all game. Threave immediately brought on Baty for the hard working but tiring Gault. Nithsdale came more into the game with the numerical advantage but Threave were never really troubled until the last minute when a corner found the head of Nithsdale's big defender who directed his header towards the postage stamp of the Threave goal. Fortunately for Threave it clipped the top of the bar and went over. Threave then managed to get the ball into the Nithsdale corner and run the remaining minutes and injury time down to hold on for a well deserved one nil win.

Newton Stewart 0 - 3 Threave Rovers (McGinley 30mins, Struthers 65,72mins)
Threave moved back to the top of the table with a well deserved win against previous joint top team Newton Stewart. Threave started the game well with Struthers finding space at the back post but was shut down well by the Newton defence. Newton then showed that they could be a threat when they broke down the Threave left but Wilson playing at right back for the injured Stenton stood up well to the challenge. Threave took the lead on the half hour mark when a corner from Gault fell to Patterson eight yards out but his shot was well blocked by the Newton defence but rebounded to McGinley who stuck his shot high into the net. Threave could have extended their lead just before half time when a Gault free kick was parried by the Newton keeper but no Threave player following in and the defence cleared. Threave knew they needed a second goal to kill off this game as Newton were still creating the odd chance which Parker in the Threave goal was easily dealing with. The second goal came on sixty five minutes when Struthers run down the right played a one two with McGinley on the edge of the box and beat the advancing keeper to the ball to poke it under him. The game was firmly put beyond Newton Stewart when Struthers again run through the defence to score his second and Threave's third. Threave replaced Baty with Cairnie and could have scored again but the Newton keeper held on to the shot. With three minutes left Rogerson and McGinley were replaced by Donley and Adams but time ran out before they could get into the game.

Saints 2 - 1 Threave Rovers (Warren 49min)
Threave crashed out of the league cup which will now see their conquerors Saints face Stranraer FC in the final after Stranraer won in extra time against Crichton. Threave made several changes from last weeks starting line up with suspended Green and Beattie being replaced by Gault and Cairnie with Donley also coming in for the injured Nicoll. The game was played in the normal windy Kirkcudbright weather with Saints playing with the wind in the first half. Both teams found it hard to find any rhythm with both midfields being shut down quickly and the swirling wind causing havoc to both attackers and defences. On the half hour mark saints took the lead when a break, down the right wing and cut back cross to the penalty spot found midfielder Gordon who's shot went through the legs of keeper Parker in the Threave goal. Threave battled back into the game and good work by Donley released Warren on the left but his cross could not be converted by McGinley in the middle. After the break, Threave replaced Cairnie with Wilson and also went with three up front to benefit from the wind. Within five minutes of the restart Threave were level when a through ball was chased down by Donley who beat the keeper to the ball but was forced away from goal, however with the keeper now out of his box Donley found Warren who shot from thirty five yards over the head of the returning defenders and into the roof of the saints net. Threave should now have kept the momentum going but fell into a high ball game which suited the Saints defence. With fifteen minutes to go Saints clinched the place in the final when a deep cross to the back post saw Cameron nudge Kerr who fell to the ground but the ref waved play on and Cameron took full advantage by firing the ball high past Parker to make the score two - one. Threave immediately replaced Donley with Rogerson to try and pull a goal back. With seconds remaining Struthers danced through the Saints defence but with McGinley and Rogerson making runs into the six yard box he shot into the side netting instead of across goal and spurred Threave last chance.

9 man Rovers hit late winner
Threave Rovers 2 - 1 Annan (Beattie 12min (pen), McGinley 85mins. (Green sent off 55mins, Beattie sent off 62mins))
9-man Threave moved to the top of the south league with a battling performance against Annan. The game started with both sides enjoying equal possession however Threave created the first chance when Sam Warren was released down the left but his cross had no takers. Annan were then awarded a soft free kick at the edge of the Threave box and Parker had to be sharp when the free kick managed to get through the wall. The first goal again came down the left when this time a Warren cross was knocked back across goal by Struthers to Nicoll who was upended in the box. Ross Beattie sent the keeper the wrong way from the resulting penalty to put Threave one up. On 15mins Nicoll was injured and replaced by Adams and for the next ten minutes Threave had Annan hemmed in their own half without creating clear cut chances. Annan got back into the game with Ross's brother Wullie Beattie's pace causing the Threave defence some problems. With ten minutes to go to half time an eye injury to Patterson meant that Gault came on to replace him. The second half started slow with free kicks breaking up the game. The game came to life on 55 mins when a through ball caught the Threave defence cold and the pace of Wullie Beattie caused Green to tangle at the edge of the Threave box and got him a red card for being last man. To make matters worse the officials decided that the challenge was in the box and Beattie copied his brother by scoring from the spot to equalise. If that was not hard enough for the ten man Threave within seven minutes they were down to nine men when Ross Beattie was shown red for blasting the ball at an Annan defender. Threave's remaining players upped their tempo and McGinley nearly finished off a three man move. Annan were now passing the ball about easier but the nine men shut down well and with parker in goal making the necessary saves kept Annan at bay. With five minutes left Threave got rewarded for their efforts when a corner was cleared to Wilby at the edge of the box who brought the ball down and fired a low shot goal wards. McGinley on the six yard box turned the ball into the net and got his personal reward for his efforts and willingness to run all night. Threave held out for the last five minutes and were happy to hear the final whistle.

Threave Rovers 3 - 2 Stranraer Ath. (Rogerson 22min pen, McGinley 65mins, Struthers 72mins)
Threave started this game well and were passing the ball about comfortable and making the Stranraer Ath. team chase hard. Within the first twenty minutes they had several good chances and a penalty claim waived away. At the other end Stranraer were starting to create an odd chance but were still finding it hard. Threave took the lead when they were awarded a penalty which Rogerson slotted away. Stranraer fought back and with five minutes to go before the interval equalised when a through ball found the Threave defence level and the striker ran on to score and send the teams in equal at half time. The second half started with Threave again attacking but a clash between Donley and the Stranraer keeper left the Threave striker rather groggy. Within five minutes Donley was replaced by McGinley and added to his two goals last week by regained the lead when a shot in the crowded box was saved by the keeper but fell to his feet and he lashed the ball low into the net. Threave went further ahead when a cross from the impressive Beattie found an unmarked Struthers on the six yard line who looped his header into the goal. Threave looked very comfortable and brought on Gault and Nicoll for Struthers and Green and might have extended their lead but as usual gave Stranraer a chance when they conceded with five minutes to go to set up a tense last five minutes which they held out to win 3 - 2.
Parker, Stenton, Patterson, Wilby, Kerr, Struthers, Green, Beattie, Warren, Rogerson, Donley. Subs McGinley, Gault, Nicoll, Wilson, Cairnie.

Annan 1 - 3 (aet) Threave Rovers (McGinley 11, 104mins, Struthers 98mins.)
Threave after Wednesday nights defeat in the league were looking to regain some form and made five changes from the team that started on Wednesday night, however the only positive's from the game was the first two goals from new young striker Marc McGinley and the fact they are through to the next round of the League Cup. The game started very scrappy with neither team able to string any passes. The young Annan team were looking the more relaxed however the first chance fell to Threave when a good run and cross from Warren was cut out by the Annan defence whilst under pressure and put out for a corner. Annan then threatened Parker's goal but all efforts were well covered by Vinnie in goal. Threave took the lead on eleven minutes when again Warren was released down the left wing and his pin point pass was side footed into the back of the net by new by Marc McGinley in his first start for Threave. This should have settled Threave down but slack passing and bad touches were adding to Threave's problems. Annan went in at Half time equal when slack defending and a neat finish by the Annan attacker to slip the ball under the advancing Parker on forty three minutes. Threave came out after the break looking more threatening but poor final balls up to the strikers and good defending kept the score level. With half an hour left Stenton came on for Wilson and Threave went back to their regular 4-4-2 formation but this still did not bring the winner, Struthers replaced Cairnie on seventy minutes and Adams was replaced by Rogerson on 75mins. Struthers livened the game up and Threave started getting in behind the Annan defence but again missed chances and good saves by the Annan keeper kept the score level and meant the game would go into extra time. Threave were now in total control and finished the game off in the first half of extra time with two goals. On ninety eight minutes McGinley crossed from the right hand side and Struthers found himself unmarked at the back post to score. On 104 minutes Rogerson did well again wide right and his cross was finished off by McGinley for his second and Threave's third. The second half of extra time could have seen more goals but poor finishing and again great saves by the Annan keeper kept the score to 3-1.
Parker, Patterson, Wilby, Kerr, Wilson, Cairnie, Green, Gault, Warren, Adams, McGinley. Subs Donley, Rogerson, Struthers, Beattie, Stenton.

Rovers made to work for win.
Dalbeattie Star 1 - 3 Threave Rovers (Donley 55mins, Rogerson 75min, Struthers 85mins.)
Threave started this game badly and could have found themselves several gaols down if Dalbeattie had taken their first half chances. New Star signing Grant Parker missed several clear cut chances with only his name sake Vinnie Parker in goal to beat. Jack Steel and Craig Rudd also had other chances for Dalbeattie but the game went in nil nil at half time. Threave came out in the second half with more purpose but found themselves one nil down when on 50mins Gault, who was still trying to recover from a Irving tackle minutes earlier gifted the ball to ex Threave striker Rudd who had the easy chance of hitting the ball into the net. Gault had to go off and was replaced by Adams which changed the shape of the Threave team who now went to a 4-3-3 formation. Within five minutes Threave were level when Neilson missed a header in the Star box and the ball fell to Donley who struck the ball low past Hair in goal. Dalbeattie were then reduced to ten men in the 62nd minute when a late lunge from Irving who was already booked for the tackle on Gault earlier gained his second yellow and subsequent red card. Threave were now well on top and on 75 minutes a corner was not cleared correctly and Rogerson was on the back post to score. With five minutes left a great run and driven cross from Beattie was turned in for number three by Jamie Struthers.

Season Starts with 5 Star Donley
Threave Rovers 12 - 2 Abbey Vale (Beattie 6mins, Donley 17,20,22,30,74 mins, Rogerson 28,35, 45pen, Warren 42min, Struthers 77mins, Adams 84mins.)
Threave started the defence of the South League in dramatic fashion with a 12-2 win against a young, inexperienced Abbey Vale side. Threave started very sharp and went ahead after just six minutes when a long through ball from Kerr found the run of Beattie who outpaced the central defence and slotted the ball home for number one. Threave then missed several chances before Last years top scorer, Donley opened his account with five goals. He struck a hat trick within five minutes and added another on the half hour mark with his fifth coming on seventy four minutes. His first was very similar to Beattie's when again the defence was outpaced with the same result, number two saw a flick from Rogerson and the lack of pace in the Vale defence exploited by Donley. His hat trick was completed in brilliant style when a cross from Struthers was volleyed into the net for his quick fire hat trick. Rogerson then got on the score sheet with a firm strike from the edge of the box, Abbey then notched their first goal of the season when their number ten turned Green at the edge of the box and struck the ball low into Parkers goal who could only stand and watch. However within a minute Donley grabbed his fourth and Threave's sixth with only half an hour played. Rogerson then played a one two on the edge of the box with Nicol to grab his second and Warren cheekily back heeled the ball in from a Struthers cross on 42 mins. On the stroke of half time Struthers was brought down in the box and Rogerson completed his hat trick from the spot to sent Threave in at half time 9 - 1 up. The second half was the predicted low key affair with Threave struggling to get going after their comfortable first half and a very scrappy goal was conceded by them when stand in right back, Wilson struck the ball against Kerr which deflected goal wards past the advancing Parker, Gault tried to clear the ball off the Threave line but again the clearance hit Kerr and into the Threave net for Abbey Vales second goal. The game continued to be a midfield battle until Threave again took control when Adams and R.Carlyle replaced Rogerson and Nicol with twenty minutes left and Donley made it double figures with his fifth of the game on 74mins. Struthers then notched his first of the season from a Donley through ball on 77 mins just before K. Smith replaced Donley who himself could have scored but saw his shot saved by the big Abbey Vale keeper. With six minutes to go Adams completed the scoring again outpacing the defence and striking the ball into the net.
Parker, Wilson, Green, Kerr, Gault, Struthers, Beattie, Nicol, Warren, Donley, Rogerson. Subs Adams, R.Carlyle, K. Smith, G.Smith.
Threave Rovers 1 - 0 Queen of the South (Tuesday 24th July 2007 ) ( Rogerson 31min)
Threave finished their pre season games with a win against a young Queen of the South team. The game started well with both teams having equal possession however Queens were keeping the ball better without creating any good chances. Fifteen minutes in saw the first real chance for Threave but Gault's shot was well saved by the Queens keeper. Queens then had there best chance when one of their midfielder's knocked the ball over the bar from six yards when the ball was headed back across goal by their big defender from a deep free kick. Threave started to play a bit better with Gault going to left back with Warren moving forward to left midfield but it took a long ball from Parker which was flicked on by Adams to set up the only goal of the game, the Queens defender tried to fend off Rogerson who brushed the defender aside and struck a fine shot past the keeper and into the back of the net. Queens upped the tempo but were kept to long distance efforts which Parker dealt with comfortably. Threave came out in the second half and got tighter to the Queens midfield which in turn created more space for their forward going players. The game was now stretching which was creating more and more chances but poor final balls and poor finishing meant no more goals. Stenton replaced Beattie who was starting to struggle after a weeks holiday, Patterson replaced Fingland and Wilson replaced Nicol but even their introduction did not create any more goals. Struthers had a shot turned onto the post by the Queens keeper and creep along the line, Adams followed up the shot but from a very tight angle shot past. Donley then released Adams who stepped inside the last defender but from the edge of the box shot wide. Queens then had some pressure but the Threave defence well controlled by Kerr and Gault stood firm. Threave then gave a debut to Kevin Smith who replaced Struthers for the last ten minutes of the game.
Parker, Green, Fingland, Kerr, Warren, Struthers, Beattie, Nicol, Gault, Rogerson, Adams. Subs Stenton, L. Patterson, Wilson, Donley, K. Smith, G. Smith.
Threave Rovers 2 -4 Kilmarnock (Saturday 21st July 2007) (Green 20mins, Struthers 42mins)
Kilmarnock started this friendly in a fast and sharp manner and went ahead after just eight minutes when their foreign trialist slotted the ball through the middle of the Threave defence to Killie's number nine who in turn slotted the ball through the legs of the advancing Parker and into the Threave net. This spurred Threave into the game and shots from Struthers and Green were well saved by the Kilmarnock keeper. Donley then peeled off well to the back post but could not guide his header on target. Threave were getting back into the game with Nicol looking menacing down the Threave left and a neat ball from him set up Green who fired the ball low and hard past the Killie keeper to equalise. With ten minutes left in the first half, Kilmarnock got a free kick on the edge of the Threave box when Parker in the Threave goal was judged to have handled outside his box. From the resulting free kick Kilmarnock took the lead again when the free kick went over the wall and sailed into the Threave net. Threave however were not willing to go in at half time behind and got level again when a neat flick from Rogerson let Struthers in who equalised from close range. Threave could have gone in ahead when a neat one two between Nicol and Struthers saw Struthers upended in the box, but from the spot Struthers saw his penalty saved by the Kilmarnock keeper in the 44th minute. The second half saw the Kilmarnock side lift the pace but it was a dubious offside goal and an own goal which gave them the win. New signing Scott Wilby replaced Stenton at right back and settled in to the back four who were under a little bit of pressure as the Threave team started to tire. In the 65th minute the flag stayed down to the amazement of the Threave defence with Killie's number nine again being released free and once again slotted the ball into the bottom of the Threave goal. The usual change of Adams for Donley was made but within five minutes Threave were 4-2 down when Jim Fingland did not hear or get a shout from his keeper and his near post header looped over Vinnie and into the net. Threave's last sub saw Geoff Paterson replace Wilson but he jarred his knee after five minutes and had to come off leaving Threave to play the last ten minutes with only ten men. Again this was a good work out for Threave who saw Gault, Patterson Nicol and Green all showing good form.
Parker, Stenton, Fingland, Patterson, Gault, Struthers, Wilson, Green, Nicol, Rogerson, Donley. Subs Adams, Wilby, Paterson.
Rovers add Scott's to the Squad
Davie McVitie has added ex Threave players Scott Wilby from Annan and Scott Gault (ex Creetown) to his squad and also hopes to add Geoff Paterson who has returned early from his year out due to a family bereavement. All three were involved in the Kilmarnock game.
Added CLOSED DOOR Friendly Game
Threave have added an extra pre season friendly with Queen of the South, the closed door game will be played at Meadow Park on Tuesday 24th July, 7.30pm kick off. This will be Threave's final game before they start their defence of their South of Scotland league title.
Threave Rovers 3 - 0 Queens Park ( Saturday 14th July 2007) (Kerr 55mins, Struthers 70 & 88mins)
Threave got back to winning ways with a slightly flattering score line of 3-0 against a youthful Queens Park side at Meadow Park. The game was played in a friendly manner with both teams passing the ball about well and creating the odd chance each. Donley, Rogerson and Struthers had Threave's best chances with stand in goal keeper Robert McColm commanding his area and saving the several chances that Queens Park created in the first half. Ten minutes after the break a little bit of pressure and the fresh legs of trialist Scott Gault and Calum Wilson in the middle of the Threave midfield for the tiring Beattie and Nicol created the first goal of the game. Gault had a free kick saved by the Queens Park goalkeeper but from the resulting Sam Warren corner, Darren Kerr capped a consistent game by rising at the back post to power a header into the Queens Park net. Donley was then replaced by Adams with twenty five minutes left and Threave furthered their lead through Struthers who shot low into the bottom right hand corner from the edge of the box when the Queens Park defence failed to clear the ball. Queens Park then had a little bit of pressure but a combination of good defending from Kerr, Fingland and Patterson and the determination to keep a clean sheet from McColm kept Queens Park at bay. In the last few minutes of the game Struthers added a third when he chipped the ball over a defender in the box, took a touch and shot low past the keeper at his near post.
McColm, Green, Fingland, Patterson, Kerr, Struthers, Nicol, Beattie, Warren, Donley, Rogerson. Subs Adams, Wilson, Gault.
Carlisle City 2 – 0 Threave Rovers (Thursday 12th July 2007)
Threave’s first pre season game did not go as planned but was a good run out for the 14 man squad that travelled to Carlisle’s sheep mount playing fields. The game started off even with both sides having good possession with no real chances. Carlisle then upped the tempo and started finding the spare man in the middle of the park which created several shots at experienced stand in keeper Kenny Shanks. Threave lifted their game and Andrew Donley had a couple of half chances in reply. The first goal of the game came as Kenny Shanks punched away a cross ball only for the attacker to land on top of him which left him helpless on the ground as a shot came in and found the net. The Threave keeper looked at the ref who pointed at the centre circle and gave the goal. The game was now quite even with Threave chasing an equaliser and Carlisle looking dangerous until the last third when the Threave defence was blocking the final ball or shot. Threave then got the perfect chance to equalise when Jamie Struthers was brought down in the box by a Carlisle defender however Chris Rogerson saw his Penalty excellently saved by the Carlisle keeper diving to his right and turning the penalty over the bar. The game then turned a little bit nasty with some hard and late challenges coming in from several of the Carlisle players with the referee not stamping down on them. The second half saw the introduction of Mark Adams for the ever willing Donley but this change had little impact as the Threave players' fitness started to tell against the Carlisle side who had no fewer than eight substitutes to call upon. With twenty minutes to go James Fingland who was feeling a slight injury came on for Wilson. Big Jim was hardly up to the pace of the game when he dwelled on the ball at the edge of the box and the Carlisle attacker picked up the ball and lashed a shot high past the helpless Shanks. With only ten minutes left and now two nil down Threave's management gave young reserve keeper Grant Smith his debut replacing Kenny Shanks. Donley came on again to replaced Rogerson and Wilson replaced the injured Stenton in quick succession. Carlisle City with the fresher players now found more space to pass the ball about but the Threave defence held out for a final score of 2-0.
